Skills:Cultivation increases stamina, strength, reflexes. Resistant to many forms of poison. Skilled in swordsmanship with a single and double blade
Abilities: Cultivation is a special training of the spiritual power inside the body that is done through rigorous training of the mind, soul and body. It gives the users the ability to do certain things such as flight (through the use of the spiritual weapons made specifically for them), quicker reflexes and senses, and healing. In the case of healing they have a quicker recovery rate, but also they can use their own spiritual power to heal others by sending it into their bodies. Xue Yang is incredibly smart and has managed to learn cultivation without the use of masters or a sect to guide him. Which means his methods are often seen as unorthodox and at times, cruel. One such method he created was the driving of spikes into the base of a person's brain to turn them into a fierce corpse and be able to control them. A fierce corpse is someone who is dead that focuses their anger on anyone who happens upon them. Xue Yang can use his abilities to direct these corpses to do his bidding. If he were to do this to someone in game then it would take someone who can sense the spiritual energy within the spikes to know that they exist and remove them. Unfortunately for most, the removal will prove to be deadly unless the person is very skilled. Another skill he possesses is the ability to create unique poisons. These poisons are often made through the use of corpse powder, which is powder from corpses that he has ground up. Combining that powder and infusing it with spiritual energy and other ingredients can create a poison that is dangerous when breathed in or drank. In game, Xue Yang would certainly be seeing just how much he would be able to get away with before the law of this place started to crack down on it. He would try to fall back into the typical life of back home as a "hired hitman" style of profession. If someone had something they wanted done but didn't want to do it themselves, Xue Yang is likely to be someone they could call upon. If there are corpses around town, then he will certainly want to experiment on them and see how he can control them and if they possess the same type of abilities to come to life as the ones back home do.

CHARACTERIZATION
FORMATIVE EXPERIENCES:
PHILOSOPHY: Xue Yang's greatest emotion and motivator is hate and his desires for revenge against anyone he feels has wronged him in his life or looked down upon him. Xue Yang is known for his merciless personality, claiming that if he wants revenge then not a single man, women, child or dog will be left standing when he finishes. Xue Yang viewed the cultivators around him with contempt and showed no fear in the presence of even the strongest of them. He spends his days stewing in his need for revenge on anyone he felt wronged him during his life. But his sense of justice goes beyond just an "eye for an eye". He lost a finger as a youth and in retaliation for that he destroyed an entire clan. He saw taking their lives as being barely enough payment for his little finger.
Xue Yang seems particularly sensitive to people looking down at him or thinking him inferior. One of the reasons he hated Xiao Xingchen and Song Lan so much was because he felt that they looked down on him at once point because of his behavior. All it took was one brief meeting and suddenly they became his targets for a lot of his contempt and he wanted to knock them down because of it. Eventually this brought him to killing Song Lan's entire clan and blinding the man.
DESIRES: Xue Yang's goals and desires are always the same...to destroy anyone that hurts him or gets in his way. These shifted slightly while he was living with Xiao Xingchen. As the only person to ever be nice to him, Xiao Xingchen has started to make Xue Yang refocus from revenge to wanting to walk by the man's side forever. If threatened or when the villagers try to take advantage of the blind man, Xue Yang steps in and protects him. It is why he started to take over all of the shopping so that he knew the man wouldn't end up with rotten fruit. He is oddly protective over someone he once desired to kill and torture.
FEARS: Xue Yang claims to not have any fears. He makes this pretty clear throughout his lifetime when he doesn't seem to hesitate no matter what is asked of him. But perhaps deep down his real fear is getting tossed aside. Throughout his lifetime he gets used until a certain point and then tossed away like trash when his usefulness has reached its end or the sect that controls him wants to show that they are not kind to criminals. Because of how close he has become with Xiao Xingchen there is perhaps a part of him that realizes the man will also cast him aside should he ever learn the truth, which might be why it is a secret he has kept despite having all the opportunities to do so.
- FIRST EVENT: -t all started when he was a kid on the streets. He agreed to do a favor for a man in exchange for a plate of food. Xue Yang was starving and innocent and wanted nothing more then to enjoy a hot meal. So he took a note from the man to another man. But apparently this note was full of hateful things and so he was punished. But he still completed his task and so battered and bruised he returned to the first man. But he was already gone from the restaurant and hadn't left the food at all like he promised. Xue Yang was deeply disappointed. Later on he found that man and asked him about the promise for food. The man simply kicked him to the ground and ran over his hand, permanently scarring him. From that moment on, Xue Yang was never the same. He eventually grew up and found that man. He destroyed his entire clan because he could never forgive him for that moment when he was a child. Particularly because he had that constant reminder of a missing pinkie finger. .
- SECOND EVENT: - Xue Yang's sense of justice goes beyond just an "eye for an eye". He lost a finger as a youth and in retaliation for that he destroyed an entire clan. He saw taking their lives as being barely enough payment for his little finger. The entire destruction of the clan was what triggered a lot of the next events in Xue Yang's life. This includes meeting Xiao Xingchen and Song Lan, being captured by Wei WUxian and taken to the Nie sect and making him a desirable person for undesirable actions that people wanted committed.
- THIRD EVENT: - Xue Yang took his anger out on Song Lan and Xiao Xingchen for capturing him in the most diabolical way. When Song Lan returns to the Baixue Temple to celebrate his master's birthday, he findshis master and students massacred by Xue Yang. He is then blinded by Xue Yang, who used some poisonous dust and blew it into his eyes. This then caused Xiao Xingchen to give up his own eyes instead and made the two who seemed inseparable to go their own ways.
- FOURTH EVENT: - Xue Yang spent several years helping Jin Guangyao in his pursuit of becoming a sect leader. But once the leader was finished with him he cast him out and set his troops out to kill him. Xue Yang was badly injured but managed to get away, only to be found by the blind Xiao Xingchen along the side of the road. Not realizing who he was rescuing, Xingchen took Xue Yang back to the coffin house that he had been living in. He healed him and when Xue Yang realized who he was with, he started to plot how to take his revenge out on the man. He didn't reveal his identity and continued to live with him for years. Eventually he started to lose his desires for revenge as Xingchen became the first person to truly show him kindness. Which became even more complicated since the man had no idea that it was Xue Yang at his side all this time.

GAMEPLAY
SUITABILITY: Xue Yang would do well in this game simply because he isn't afraid of anything and is very willing to charge ahead no matter what situation might present itself. Although not the best person for creating lasting friendships or relationships because of his lack of trust, Xue Yang won't hesitate to jump into action if there is something he deems interesting going on. People might get saved from difficult situations not because he wishes to help, but because he finds the circumstances to be interesting to him. The monster transformations are definitely an exciting dynamic in the game and I look forward to having the chance to see how Xue Yang might react to such an ability depending on the situation. He is going to find this new ability to be quite entertaining and will likely use it to torment people as often as he can. He will not see this as a curse, but rather an enhancement.No matter what happens, conflict is something Xue Yang is very good at stirring up. He is likely to get into a lot of trouble and cause people a fair amount of headaches.

MONSTER: Xue Yang's monster is a nogitsune. In traditional Japanese folklore, a nogitsune can be characterized as a type of kitsune: magical foxes capable of shapeshifting. These dark kitsunes feed and thrive off the pain they cause humans. This kind of creature seems to fit right in with Xue Yang's personality. It will look like a 9-tailed fox but will be black with red tips to his fur. Along with the shapeshifting ability, his monster form gives him a slight magical ability that allows simply tricks to be played on others. Even in monster form, deception, trickery and playfulness with be strong personality traits for him.
The shapeshifting ability of the nogitsune will be quite useful in game since it would mean Xue Yang could pretend to be just about anyone he wanted. If there was information he desired then he could find someone who might be able to tell him what he wanted and change into someone or something that they trusted. Although he won't be able to maintain it for extended periods of time, he would do what he could to make it worthwhile. Magical trickery is the same as small April Fool's jokes. A banana suddenly appearing where someone was walking or a bucket of glitter falling onto someone's head. Although fairly harmless in nature, the tricks were be way for Xue Yang to keep himself entertained and cause a little discomfort to those involved. He isn't afraid of whatever retributions the ones being tricked are going to want to bring down on him so his interactions with other characters will range anywhere from creating enemies to finding like minded friends. These tricks could escalate to larger scale things just as trapping people that he might want to keep out of the way temporarily so that he can do something he shouldn't. This is also where the shapeshifting will become useful. If someone is looking for a trickster fox..then simply change into a completely innocent kitten and walk away like nothing happened. Because the nogitsune become stronger when they cause pain to others, once he learns of this the tricks could become more dangerous as he tests these new abilities to see just what they are capable of.
